Salvator

SALVATOR.
Monograms and symbols devised to represent Christ are collectively known as Christograms. This venerable monogram, IHS, originated as an abbreviated form of the Greek word for Jesus. Over the centuries, however, it has come to stand for the Latin, ‘Iesus Hominum Salvator’, (Jesus, Savior of Men), and was commonly used as an amulet in early days. As well as a trinket, the monogram could be found carved into buildings for protection against malediction. This pendant is made as an inverted form of a genuine ancient, primitive wall graffiti.
